Jazz album cover project

Client: Peter Campbell Music

It was a true pleasure working with Canadian jazz musician Peter Campbell on illustrations for his album Old Flames Never Die. Our collaboration began in 2017 with Loving You: Celebrating Shirley Horn, which received critical acclaim in Canada and internationally. This album was featured on several top jazz recordings lists of 2017 and earned a 2018 Independent Music Award nomination.

In 2020, Peter released Old Flames Never Die, and I was delighted to create the album cover art and promotional illustrations. A Paris in evening scene became the centerpiece of the artwork, perfectly reflecting the mood of the album.

While I typically use sharp ink lines, Peter’s soft and mellow voice inspired a different artistic approach. For this project, I incorporated watercolor washes with soft, blended edges to complement the album’s gentle and nostalgic tone.
