A special connection with horse illustrations

Horse illustrations hold a special place in my journey as an artist. My very first commissioned project, back in 2008, was draw horses for the investment company Cazenove Capital. As someone who personally studies and sketches horses, this project was incredibly exciting and gave me a strong sense of confidence to pursue a career as a professional illustrator.

Horses, with their elegant forms and dynamic postures, are a wonderful subject for artists, especially when practicing movement and fluidity in their work. Their grace and energy offer endless inspiration for capturing motion and beauty in illustration.

Here are a few examples of my horse drawings: corporate artwork for Cazenove Capital, magazine illustrations for Impulsion, and an iconic rum label project for Pampero Rum. Each project reflects my passion for drawing these majestic animals and the versatility of their depiction across various styles and mediums.

I contacted Eri to ask permission to use his work as a case study. He was really understanding and supportive of our work at the Academy and took a great interest in what the students achieved during our classes.
