Edinburgh illustrations

Exploring Edinburgh illustrations

Living in Scotland, I’m naturally drawn to creating Edinburgh illustrations. Every day, I discover something fascinating in this beautiful city. Whether it’s the intricate stonework, the stunning architecture, or the breathtaking scenery.

One particularly enjoyable project was creating a movie poster for the iconic Hitchcock film 39 Steps. In collaboration with Edinburgh’s leading brand agency, 39steps. As a movie poster enthusiast, I carefully selected key scenes—including the famous Flying Scotsman. And wove them into a single, cohesive illustration.

The project I enjoyed the most was creating a personal wedding gift. The couple who got married at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. The groom, a devoted Star Trek fan, inspired me to design a unique scene where the Starship Enterprise hovers over the cathedral. The piece offers a breathtaking view of Edinburgh’s iconic landmarks, all imagined from the perspective of the Enterprise.

Another favorite was the award winning book project Blood & Gold, set against the backdrop of Edinburgh. The story featured many iconic cityscapes, and instead of relying solely on photos and videos for reference. I took to the streets to explore, sketching locations firsthand to capture their unique character.

I also had the pleasure of illustrating the album cover Ceilidh Rocks! for the contemporary Scottish folk rock band Reel Time Band. The cover was a playful celebration of Scotland, featuring beloved symbols like the hairy coo, the Forth Bridge, and Edinburgh Castle.

Edinburgh continues to inspire me, and I’m sure I’ll be sketching its streets and landmarks for years to come. Who knows—you might even spot me drawing on the Royal Mile one day!
