Creating cat drawing is a delightful subject for an ink artist like me. There’s something captivating about the elegant curves of a cat’s spine and the fluid movement of their tails. It is pleasure to capture through line drawings with pen and ink. Some of the examples featured here were commissioned by commercial clients. Including illustrations used as brand assets for a language school called Bupa Bopi. However, the majority of the pieces represent my personal studies and creative exploration. Among all my subjects, a drawing of a sleeping cat remains my absolute favorite, offering endless inspiration. Sometimes, I even take a spontaneous approach by splashing ink across the paper and letting the lines naturally form into cats. It’s a playful and liberating way to create art.
The stretching black cat illustration was selected for The AOI Members Exhibition – Inspired to Innovate at Hoxton Arches in 2019.
